"Newest Gathering Place Celebration"

A wonderful new "Gathering Place" has just been completed at the South Main (main entrance) gate to the Danny Woo Community Garden.  A dedication ceremony was held on June 7, 2007.  The University of Washington Design/Build students from the School of Architecture created this new space featuring theatre-style seating with picnic tables, benches surrounded by flagstones and Asian-style gate and fence.  Thanks to the students, professors Steve Badanes, Chad Robertson, and assistant Brett Smith.  And thank you to the City of Seattle Department of Parks and Recreation, Department of Neighborhoods, COSTCO Wholesale, and the many individuals who contributed to The Bob Santos Legacy Fund and Friends of the Danny Woo Community Garden~~all who made this possible.  Come visit this wonderful green, open space.  A special memorial marker will be placed in the loving memory of Tatsuo Nakata, in this area.  Tatsuo volunteered in July 2006 for the 2-4 a.m. 'shift' turning the pig for our annual Pig Roast, and will be forever remembered for his great contributions to our community.
